Group Membership

Join the growing Deep Green Resistance movement and help actualize a strategy to save the planet. Deep Green Resistance Chicago is always looking for committed members to join our action group. The steps to joining are as follows:

  1. Read the Stages of Membership document to learn about the process of being a member of DGR Chicago.
  2. Next, read about what potential members would be committing to as outlined in theĀ Responsibilities of a Member document. You will be required to have read the Statement of Principles and Code of Conduct.
  3. After reading these two documents, fill out theĀ Membership questionnaire, which you will then send in to deepgreenresistancechicago@riseup.net.
  4. We will review your answers and then get in touch with you about scheduling a phone conversation between yourself and either the Coordinator or Co-Coordinator of DGR Chicago. This time will be used to discuss your membership and is the final step you need to take to initiate your becoming a member of the action group.

It should be noted that one does not need to be a member of Deep Green Resistance Chicago to volunteer, offer support, or be an ally. There are many ways that you can be involved and help the movement as a whole and our action group, so please get in touch if this describes you.

Choice between Aboveground and Underground

To be successful in saving the planet, resistance will need both aboveground and underground components. Broadly speaking, aboveground groups do not carry out risky illegal actions, and are organized in ways that maximize their ability to use public institutions and communication structures. Underground groups exist primarily to carry out illegal or repressed activities and are organized in ways that maximize their own security and effectiveness. Every budding activist must choose between working aboveground or underground, as a strict firewall must exist between the two. The Deep Green Resistance movement, including DGR Chicago, is an aboveground movement.
